   Alfin Ring

RCP Inserts

This product is known by 3 different names i.e. Alfin Rings/ RCP Inserts/ Groove Inserts Alfin Rings: Austenitic Cast Iron rings (Non-magnetic) popularly known as Al-Fin type to provide high wear resistance for longer life than normal pistons. These Ni Resist rings with high Nickel percentage, are cast in the piston by metallurgical bonding. This is particularly resistant to wear due to friction pounding. This is advantageous at high operating temperatures and pressures. RCP Inserts:- Mean Ring carrier piston insert, it is named so because it is used as carrier of compression (Top) ring in piston.

Groove Inserts:- It is named so as it is imbedded in the groove of piston during casting.

Technical Data:

Austenitic Ni Resist Cast Iron: A high heat resistance as well as a particularly high (or low) thermal coefficient of expansion belongs to the further extreme characteristics of Ni-resist. Ni-resist is erosion resistant, non-scaling and not magnetizable. The nickel quotient increases the tensile strength and the elongation of this material. Ni-resist does not form a passive layer in contact with sea water or alkaline materials. Ni-resist can be machined better than cast steel and is usually more economical to produce.

Application of Alfin Ring:

Alfin Ring is inserted in the top ring groove of the piston or in some designs the top two ring grooves are inserted with Alfin Rings. This ring groove means higher degree of wear resistant. These pistons are recommended for Heavy Duty Diesel Engines with turbo charger, Alfin Ring is machined from Centrifugal Casted Sleeve.
